description

Black anodized heat sinks dissipate heat from electronic components while the black anodized surface maximizes thermal emissivity for better radiation cooling. The black finish is not just aesthetic - the high emissivity coating radiates heat more effectively than bare aluminum, providing meaningful thermal performance improvement. Extruded heat sinks cover most standard applications - cost-effective for production volumes with consistent fin geometry. CNC machining adds mounting features and custom modifications. Die-cast heat sinks handle more complex geometries and integration with enclosures. The thermal resistance specification tells you how many degrees Celsius the sink temperature rises per watt of heat load. Lower is better, but comes with larger size and higher cost.

Airflow Changes Everything

Natural convection: black anodizing makes a substantial difference since radiation is a major cooling mechanism. Forced air (fan): the fan dominates cooling, so color matters less - extruded or die-cast fin geometry matters more. Match the heat sink to your airflow conditions. A heat sink optimized for natural convection will look different from one optimized for forced air.

Quality is non-negotiable in precision manufacturing. Every component undergoes rigorous inspection at each stage of production.

  • ISO 9001:2015 - Certified quality management system covering design, machining, and inspection
  • Passivation / Electropolishing - ASTM A967 procedures for corrosion resistance
  • Material Traceability - Heat number tracking from raw material to finished part
  • MIL-A-8625 - Military-specification anodizing for aluminum components
  • Coating Thickness Testing - Coating weight and thickness verification per MIL spec
  • Salt Spray Testing - 1000-hour ASTM B117 corrosion resistance verification available
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) - Full dimensional report included with every new order

From raw material to finished product, every step is controlled and documented:

  • Material Preparation - CNC turning/milling to near-net shape
  • Heat Treatment - Through-hardening or case-hardening for strength-critical parts
  • Surface Preparation - Degreasing, acid cleaning, and surface activation
  • Electroplating - Controlled bath process with thickness monitoring
  • Sealing / Baking - Chrome sealing, anodize sealing, or hydrogen embrittlement relief baking
  • Inspection - Coating thickness measurement, adhesion testing, and visual check
  • Packaging - Protective interleaving, VCI packaging, and anti-tarnish wrapping
