About This Service

 

       CNC turning shapes rotating workpieces with stationary cutting tools. We use Swiss-type lathes for

        sub-25 mm precision parts and standard CNC lathes for larger work. Live tooling enables mill-and-turn in one setup.

 

 

Three Capability Classes (Pick Yours)

We divide our turning work into three classes based on diameter. The class determines machine, tolerance, and price.

Class A - Small Precision

Diameter 3-25 mm. Tolerance plus/minus 0.005 mm. Surface finish Ra 0.4-1.6 micrometer. Swiss-type lathes (Citizen, Star). Best for medical pins, sensor housings, electronic contacts.

Class B - Standard Shafts

Diameter 25-100 mm. Tolerance plus/minus 0.01 mm. Surface finish Ra 0.8-3.2 micrometer. Standard CNC lathes (Haas, Mazak, Doosan). Best for drive shafts, motor shafts, hydraulic spools, fasteners.

Class C - Large Diameter

Diameter 100-300 mm. Tolerance plus/minus 0.02 mm. Surface finish Ra 1.6-6.3 micrometer. Heavy-duty CNC with steady rests. Best for large valve bodies, hydraulic rods, industrial rolls.

Live Tooling: 3 Reasons It Wins

Live tool = rotating cutting tool on the lathe turret. Eliminates moving parts to a separate mill.

Setup Count Drops 50%

Traditional turn-then-mill: 2 setups with 60-90 min of fixture time. Live tooling: 1 setup. Saves 30-50% cycle time.

 

Tolerance Improves 4x

Each re-fixturing adds plus/minus 0.02-0.05 mm error. One setup means tighter accuracy across all features. Critical for cross-drilled holes and milled flats.
