Stainless sensor enclosures protect sensors and instrumentation in places where standard enclosures would not last - food processing plants with high-pressure wash-down, offshore platforms with constant salt air, any environment with moisture or corrosive media. 304 stainless handles most indoor and light industrial environments. 316 adds molybdenum for chloride resistance - marine applications, coastal installations, food processing with salt or acidic media. IP ratings from IP66 through IP69K cover the range from wet industrial to high-pressure wash-down. Electropolishing removes surface roughness and creates a cleanable, contamination-resistant surface.

IP69K vs. IP66 - What It Means

 

IP66 handles water from powerful jets but is not rated for high-pressure steam wash-down. IP69K specifically covers high-pressure high-temperature wash-down - the standard for food processing, pharmaceutical, and dairy equipment. If you are specifying for a commercial kitchen or food plant, IP69K is typically required.
