Instrument aluminum enclosures house measurement and control equipment - laboratory analyzers, field instruments, industrial monitoring devices. The form factor has to fit lab benches and field installations, manage heat, and stay accessible for maintenance and calibration. Aluminum extrusion is the starting point - light, rigid profiles with internal channels for wiring and mounting. CNC machining adds slots for displays, openings for connectors, and mounting features for circuit boards. More complex shapes call for machined plate or welded assemblies. 6063-T5 extrusion is most common - good strength, smooth surface after anodizing, hollow profile reduces weight and provides cable routing. 6061-T6 plate takes on more demanding environments.

Extruded profiles give you the hollow internal channels for cable routing in one piece - no welding required. Machined plate enclosures can be faster to produce for small quantities and handle more complex internal geometry.
