CNC electronic enclosures house controllers, sensor modules, and communication devices in industrial environments. The advantage over stamped enclosures is precision - custom features machined to your exact requirements, not adapted from standard sizes. 6061-T6 aluminum is the most common choice - light, machines well, anodizes nicely. 5052 aluminum handles more corrosive environments. Stainless steel when EMI shielding or maximum durability is required. CNC milling and laser cutting produce clean openings for displays, connectors, and access panels. Internal heat sinks for power electronics, EMC shielding layers, and mounting bosses are machined directly into the enclosure walls.

Why CNC Over Die Casting for Enclosures

 

Die casting has high upfront tooling cost - economical only at thousands of pieces. CNC machining from plate has no tooling cost and handles design changes without new tooling. For prototypes, small production runs, or when the enclosure design is still evolving, CNC machining is the practical choice. Internal features - bosses, heat sink fins, EMC shielding - are often impossible to produce in a die casting mold.
