description

Spiral helical gears have teeth cut at a helix angle rather than parallel to the gear axis - the diagonal tooth engagement means gradual contact that is significantly quieter than straight-cut spur gears. The helix angle creates axial thrust load that the bearings must handle, but the noise reduction and higher load capacity make spiral helical gears the standard for speedReducers and industrial gearboxes.

8620 case-hardening steel develops a hard tooth surface with a ductile core - the combination handles shock loads without becoming brittle. 4140 through-hardened alloy provides good strength for moderate load applications. 303 stainless is used when corrosion resistance is required.

Left Hand vs. Right Hand - It Matters for Shaft Layout

Helical gears come in left-hand and right-hand helix directions. Two meshing gears on parallel shafts must have opposite helix hands. For a speed reducer with an input and output shaft, the gear pair must be opposite hands. If your gear meshing sounds wrong or the shafts are misaligned, check the helix hand first - it is a common assembly error.

FAQ

Q1: MOQ?

A1: 10 pieces.

Q2: AGMA levels?

A2: 8–12. Selection depends on noise, accuracy, and load requirements.

Q3: Helix angle?

A3: 8°–25° typical. Selection depends on load and noise requirements.

Q4: Materials?

A4: 8620 case-hardening, 4140 alloy, 303 stainless.

Q5: Thrust loads?

A5: Yes. Axial thrust must be managed with thrust bearings.

Q6: Custom configurations?

A6: Yes. Custom helix angles, pressure angles, and tooth counts.

Quality is non-negotiable in precision manufacturing. Every component undergoes rigorous inspection at each stage of production.

  • ISO 9001:2015 - Certified quality management system covering design, machining, and inspection
  • Passivation / Electropolishing - ASTM A967 procedures for corrosion resistance
  • Material Traceability - Heat number tracking from raw material to finished part
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) - Full dimensional report included with every new order

From raw material to finished product, every step is controlled and documented:

Material Preparation - Bar or forging stock selection with material certification
Rough Machining - CNC turning/milling to gear blank profile
Gear Cutting - Hobbing, shaping, or milling for gear tooth geometry
Heat Treatment - Carburizing, induction hardening, or through-hardening
Grinding / Finishing - Gear tooth grinding for AGMA 10+ quality levels
Inspection - Lead, involute, and tooth thickness measurement against drawing
Cleaning & Packaging - Rust prevention oil coating and protective packaging
