description

Precision test probes make the contact between test equipment and the circuits being tested - in in-circuit board testing, boundary scan validation, or functional test systems. The probe tip has to touch the test point reliably, conduct the signal accurately, and survive thousands of insertions without degrading. Tool steel probe bodies provide durability for high-volume production testing. Beryllium copper offers excellent conductivity with good durability - the standard choice for most production test applications. Tungsten probe tips provide the hardest, most wear-resistant tip surface for high-cycle applications. Tip radius selection matches the test point geometry. Smaller radii reach finer pitch test points but wear faster. Larger radii are more durable but require larger test pads.

Why Spring Force Selection Matters

Too little spring force: probe does not make reliable contact, produces intermittent opens. Too much spring force: probe damages fine test pads, especially on flex circuits or delicate PCB surfaces. For standard rigid PCB test points, 100–200 g spring force is common. For flexible circuits or small test pads, 20–50 g is safer.

Quality is non-negotiable in precision manufacturing. Every component undergoes rigorous inspection at each stage of production.

  • ISO 9001:2015 - Certified quality management system covering design, machining, and inspection
  • CMM Inspection - Coordinate measuring for complex geometries and tight tolerances
  • Surface Roughness Measurement - Ra, Rz, and Rt charting with every inspection report
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) - Full dimensional report included with every new order
  • Material Traceability - Mill test reports, heat treatment records, and certificates of conformance for every batch

From raw material to finished product, every step is controlled and documented:

  • Material Preparation - CNC turning/milling to near-net shape
  • Heat Treatment - Through-hardening or case-hardening for strength-critical parts
  • Surface Preparation - Degreasing, acid cleaning, and surface activation
  • Electroplating - Controlled bath process with thickness monitoring
  • Sealing / Baking - Chrome sealing, anodize sealing, or hydrogen embrittlement relief baking
  • Inspection - Coating thickness measurement, adhesion testing, and visual check
  • Packaging - Protective interleaving, VCI packaging, and anti-tarnish wrapping
