Powder coated thumb screws have a thick, uniform polymer coating applied by electrostatic spray and oven curing - the result is a finish that is harder, more durable, and more corrosion-resistant than liquid paint. The powder coating adheres well to properly prepared surfaces and provides consistent thickness without runs or sags. The powder coating layer is typically 60 to 120 micrometers thick - much thicker than liquid paint and more resistant to chipping, scratching, and chemical exposure. Polyester powder coatings provide good UV and weather resistance for outdoor applications. Epoxy powder coatings provide excellent chemical resistance. Custom colors from the RAL color system match brand requirements and aesthetic specifications.

Hardened fasteners (Grade 10, 12.9) are typically heat treated to Rc 39-44 after threading. The powder coating cure temperature of 180-200°C is below the typical hardening temperature but above the tempering temperature for some steels. If the fastener has been tempered at a low temperature to achieve its hardness, the powder coating cure cycle could soften it. Tell us if your fastener must stay at Rc 40+.
