description

Custom precision ground shafts are used in pumps, motors, medical imaging equipment, and semiconductor tools. Tight tolerances and smooth surfaces are what make the difference - our grinding and CNC turning processes consistently hold ±0.005 mm on diameter, with surface roughness below Ra 0.8 μm. Smoother surfaces retain lubrication better, reduce friction, and run quieter over time.

Material choice depends on your actual operating conditions. Carbon steels like 1045 and 4140 work well for general use. Alloy steels 4340 and 52100 handle higher loads and speeds better. In corrosive environments, stainless steels 303, 304, and 316 keep things stable over the long haul. Heat treatment is matched to your application - through-hardening for strength, case-hardening for a wear-resistant surface over a tough core, or induction hardening for localized hardness on specific sections.

We also machine keyways, D-profiles, threads, and spline features to your drawings. Every shaft comes with full inspection documentation and material traceability.

Applications & Industries

Precision ground shafts are deployed across demanding sectors where reliability and accuracy are non-negotiable:

Medical Devices:

Surgical robots, imaging equipment, diagnostic instruments - where surface finish and dimensional accuracy directly affect patient safety

Aerospace:

Flight control actuators, turbine accessories, landing gear assemblies - certified to AS/EN/JISQ standards

Industrial Automation:

Servo motors, robotics joints, assembly lines - high-cycle durability under continuous operation

Semiconductor:

Wafer handling, cleanroom precision stages - ultra-clean surfaces, zero contamination

A6: Material certificates (mill test reports), dimensional inspection reports, surface roughness measurements, and Certificate of Conformance are included with every shipment.

Quality Is Non-Negotiable In Precision Manufacturing. Every Component Undergoes Rigorous Inspection At Each Stage Of Production.

  • ISO 13485 - Full FDA compliance support; quality management system for medical device components
  • ISO 11607 / FDA 21 CFR 820 - Packaging and sterilization validation for implantable and surgical devices
  • ASTM F136 / F67 - Material specification compliance for implant-grade titanium and stainless
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) - Full dimensional and functional report for every medical component
  • CMM Inspection - Coordinate measuring for complex geometries and tight tolerances
  • Surface Roughness Measurement - Ra, Rz, and Rt charting with every inspection report
  • Passivation / Electropolishing - ASTM A967 procedures for corrosion resistance
  • Material Traceability - Heat number tracking from raw material to finished part
  • MIL-A-8625 - Military-specification anodizing for aluminum components
  • Coating Thickness Testing - Coating weight and thickness verification per MIL spec
  • Salt Spray Testing - 1000-hour ASTM B117 corrosion resistance verification available

From Raw Material To Finished Product, Every Step Is Controlled And Documented:

  • Material Preparation - CNC turning/milling to near-net shape
  • Heat Treatment - Through-hardening or case-hardening for strength-critical parts
  • Surface Preparation - Degreasing, acid cleaning, and surface activation
  • Anodizing - Controlled bath process with thickness monitoring
  • Sealing / Baking - Chrome sealing, anodize sealing, or hydrogen embrittlement relief baking
  • Inspection - Coating thickness measurement, adhesion testing, and visual check
  • Packaging - Protective interleaving, VCI packaging, and anti-tarnish wrapping
