description

Anodized aluminum heat sinks dissipate heat from electronic components - keeping temperatures within safe operating limits so the electronics perform reliably and last longer. The anodized surface not only protects the aluminum from corrosion but also increases thermal emissivity, improving heat radiation from the sink surface. Black anodizing maximizes thermal emissivity and gives the heat sink a professional appearance. Clear anodizing preserves the aluminum look while providing corrosion protection and some emissivity improvement.

Why Black Anodized Beats Bare Aluminum for Heat Sinks

A bare aluminum surface has emissivity around 0.05–0.1 - it radiates very little heat. Black anodizing pushes emissivity to 0.85–0.9. For a heat sink operating in still air, radiation can account for 30–50% of total heat dissipation. Black anodizing can double the heat a sink radiates at typical operating temperatures.

FAQ

Q1: MOQ?

A1: 10 pieces.

Q2: Manufacturing methods?

A2: Extrusion (standard), CNC machining, bonded fin constructions.

Q3: Surface finishes?

A3: Black anodized (standard), clear anodized.

Q4: Thermal performance range?

A4: 0.5°C/W to 20°C/W depending on size and configuration.

Q5: Custom configurations?

A5: Yes. Custom dimensions, mounting features, thermal testing.

Q6: Black vs. clear?

A6: Black has higher emissivity - better for passive cooling in still air. Clear for visible applications.

Quality is non-negotiable in precision manufacturing. Every component undergoes rigorous inspection at each stage of production.

  • ISO 9001:2015 - Certified quality management system covering design, machining, and inspection
  • MIL-A-8625 - Military-specification anodizing for aluminum components
  • Coating Thickness Testing - Coating weight and thickness verification per MIL spec
  • Salt Spray Testing - 1000-hour ASTM B117 corrosion resistance verification available
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) - Full dimensional report included with every new order
  • Material Traceability - Mill test reports, heat treatment records, and certificates of conformance for every batch

From raw material to finished product, every step is controlled and documented:

  • Material Preparation - CNC turning/milling to near-net shape
  • Heat Treatment - Through-hardening or case-hardening for strength-critical parts
  • Surface Preparation - Degreasing, acid cleaning, and surface activation
  • Electroplating - Controlled bath process with thickness monitoring
  • Sealing / Baking - Chrome sealing, anodize sealing, or hydrogen embrittlement relief baking
  • Inspection - Coating thickness measurement, adhesion testing, and visual check
  • Packaging - Protective interleaving, VCI packaging, and anti-tarnish wrapping
