CNC machined swivel joints allow rotation and oscillation in fluid transfer lines while maintaining a leak-free seal - the solution when hoses or cables need to rotate without twisting and kinking. Hydraulic systems on excavators, rotating tool heads in machining centers, and feed lines to welding equipment all depend on swivel joints.

Carbon steel handles most industrial hydraulic applications. Stainless steel takes on corrosive media, marine environments, and high-purity applications. Brass is common in pneumatic systems and lower-pressure fluid transfer.

Swivel Joint vs. Rotary Union

 

Swivel joints and rotary unions are similar but not identical. Swivel joints are typically lower pressure, simpler designs for hose and piping connections. Rotary unions add channels for multiple media - allowing water, air, and hydraulic fluid to pass through a rotating joint simultaneously. For single-channel rotation, a swivel joint is the simpler, more economical choice.
