description

Valve seat inserts provide the sealing surface inside valves where the closure member - plug, disc, or ball - seats to stop flow. The insert has to maintain its geometry under repeated impact and pressure, resist wear from particle content in the flow media, and provide a leak-tight seal every time the valve closes. 440C stainless steel provides high hardness and wear resistance for general service valves. 316 stainless handles more corrosive media. Tool steel inserts take on abrasive service where harder materials are needed to resist particle erosion. Stellite overlays give wear resistance of a hard alloy overlay with the machinability of a steel substrate. Precision grinding and lapping produce the flat, concentric sealing surface that determines how tight the valve seal is. Even small imperfections in the seat surface cause leakage past the closure member.

Metal Seat vs. Soft Seat

Metal seats handle high temperatures and high pressures. They require the valve closure member to compress against the seat with enough force to create a metal-to-metal seal. Soft seats (PTFE, elastomers) seal at lower seating forces but cannot take high temperatures. If your valve runs below 200°C and does not involve abrasive media, a soft seat valve might be simpler and cheaper.

Quality is non-negotiable in precision manufacturing. Every component undergoes rigorous inspection at each stage of production.

  • ISO 9001:2015 - Quality management system covering design and manufacturing
  • API 6D / API 600 - Design and testing compliance for valve components and flanges
  • Hydrostatic Pressure Testing - Every valve body pressure-tested to 1.5× rated pressure
  • MPI / LPI - Magnetic particle and liquid penetrant inspection for weld integrity
  • CE / ATEX - Pressure equipment directive compliance for EU market available
  • CMM Inspection - Coordinate measuring for complex geometries and tight tolerances
  • Surface Roughness Measurement - Ra, Rz, and Rt charting with every inspection report
  • Passivation / Electropolishing - ASTM A967 procedures for corrosion resistance
  • Material Traceability - Heat number tracking from raw material to finished part

From raw material to finished product, every step is controlled and documented:

  • Material Verification - Incoming material inspection with mill certificates
  • Rough Machining - CNC turning/milling to near-net shape
  • Heat Treatment - Hardening, annealing, or surface treatment as required
  • Finishing Machining - CNC finishing, grinding, or precision machining
  • Surface Treatment - Plating, anodizing, polishing, or coating as specified
  • Inspection & Testing - Dimensional check, hardness, and surface measurement
  • Cleaning & Packaging - Degreasing, rust prevention, and protective packaging
