description

Inconel investment castings produce complex high-temperature nickel alloy shapes that retain strength at temperatures where most metals lose their properties - Inconel 625 and 718 are the standards for aerospace combustor components, turbine blade platforms, and chemical processing hardware that sees temperatures and corrosive media no other alloy can handle. Inconel 625 has excellent corrosion resistance and good strength up to about 650°C - the standard for chemical processing and marine applications. Inconel 718 adds precipitation hardening for higher strength at elevated temperatures, used in gas turbine and aerospace structural components.

Why Inconel Costs More Than Steel or Aluminum

Inconel melts above 1350°C and is difficult to cast - the material is reactive at melt temperature, requiring vacuum or inert atmosphere melting to avoid contamination. The molds must survive those temperatures and the thermal cycling of solidification. Tooling and processing costs are high, which is why Inconel castings are only specified when the application genuinely requires the temperature capability.

FAQ

Q1: MOQ?

A1: 10 pieces for Inconel investment castings.

Q2: Materials?

A2: Inconel 625 (corrosion/temperature), Inconel 718 (high strength), Inconel 713 (castability).

Q3: Temperature capability?

A3: Up to 1000°C depending on alloy and heat treatment condition.

Q4: Casting method?

A4: Investment casting - necessary for Inconel's high melt temperature and reactivity.

Q5: Heat treatment?

A5: Solution treated and aged for Inconel 718. Solution treated for Inconel 625.

Q6: Custom configurations?

A6: Yes. Complex geometries, large castings, precision tolerances.

Quality is non-negotiable in precision manufacturing. Every component undergoes rigorous inspection at each stage of production.

  • AS/EN/JISQ 9100 - Aerospace quality management for flight-critical and structural parts
  • NADCAP - Accredited special processes including heat treatment, NDT, and surface treatment
  • DFARS / ITAR - Compliant supply chain for defense and space applications
  • Boeing DMS / Airbus SP - Customer-specific requirements documentation available
  • CMM Inspection - Coordinate measuring for complex geometries and tight tolerances
  • Surface Roughness Measurement - Ra, Rz, and Rt charting with every inspection report
  • Material Traceability - Mill test reports, heat treatment records, and certificates of conformance for every batch

From raw material to finished product, every step is controlled and documented:

  • Pattern Making - Wooden or metal pattern fabrication for sand/centrifugal/investment casting
  • Molding - Sand casting, shell mold, centrifugal, or lost-wax investment casting setup
  • Melting & Pouring - Controlled furnace melting with chemistry and temperature monitoring
  • Solidification & Shakeout - Controlled cooling with riser/removal and core shakeout
  • Heat Treatment - Annealing, normalizing, or solution treatment per specification
  • Machining - CNC machining, drilling, and tapping to final dimensions
  • Surface Treatment - Grinding, welding, or coating as required
  • Inspection & Testing - Dimensional, visual, hydrostatic, or NDT inspection
  • Cleaning & Packaging - Sand removal, degreasing, rust prevention, and packaging
